Mr Uche Nwokedi, SAN was appointed to the Board of First Bank of Nigeria Limited on 29 April 2021. He is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Principal Counsel at Uche Nwokedi & Co. He has over 35 years post-call legal experience. Uche brings to the Board a very good understanding of the legal system especially as it relates to International Commercial Arbitration and Commercial Law, especially in oil and gas industry transactions.  Before joining the Board of FirstBank, he was the Publisher & Editor-in-Chief of Nigerian Oil and Gas Cases, Chairman, Pound Road Media Limited, and Founder & Chairman, The Playhouse Initiative for Youth Development, a non -profit foundation. He started his legal profession with Ashland Oil Company Nigeria as a Legal Officer and later proceeded to Rotimi Williams Chambers as Senior Counsel.

A graduate of University of Lagos and a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, he is a member of Chartered Institute of Arbitration and Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria,  former member of the Executive Council of The Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria. Uche is also a writer and his work, Kakadu the Musical, is one of the most widely acclaimed stage productions from Nigeria.  Through his Foundation, he runs programs for mentoring young adults, using music and drama as a medium for youth development, and undertakes contemporary theatrical projects as a positive way of impacting proper moral and social values.
