Patrick Iyamabo

Group Executive, Chief Financial Officer

Patrick Iyamabo is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of First Bank of Nigeria Limited (FirstBank), with accountability for the finance function of FirstBank and all its subsidiaries. He joined FirstBank in 2016 from FCMB Group Plc after nine years, where he was Senior Vice President of Strategy and M&A at First City Monument Bank Ltd and thereafter the Group Chief Financial Officer. Patrick has over 25 years professional experience spanning audit, risk management, business development, accounting and finance, during which he advised / worked for local and multinational institutions, within and outside Nigeria, at executive management level.

Patrick started his career as a pharmacist with the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), thereafter as a medical representative with Pfizer in Nigeria, and years later in the Middle East and Africa business development function of Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals in New York.

Patrick also worked at Arthur Anderson for 8 years (Lagos) in various capacities as auditor, financial assurance expert, strategy consultant and in later years as a cofounder of the risk management practice, with consistent specialisation in banks and other financial institutions. At various times, Patrick also worked with Booz Allen Hamilton in New York and LEK Consulting in Boston providing strategic management and corporate finance services to private and listed corporations, as well as PEs, VCs and other institutions making strategic acquisitions and divestitures.

Patrick holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Ahmadu Bello University (B. Pharm) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with dual majors in Finance and Strategic Management from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and was selected into various Global Immersion Programmes across Asia and Europe. He also attended INSEAD Singapore MBA exchange programme. He has further attended various executive and specialised programmes at the Harvard Business School and The Wharton School.

Patrick is a Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA); Fellow, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCITN); member Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria; and Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB).

He is widely travelled.
