Shehu Aliyu is the Group Executive, Retail Banking, North, First Bank of Nigeria Limited. He joined the Bank in July 2012 as Group Head, Retail Banking North, Abuja. Prior to his current appointment, he was Regional Head, Retail Banking, North. Before he joined FirstBank, he had worked with Guaranty Trust Bank, United Bank for Africa and Stanbic IBTC Bank. Shehu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics & Extension from University of Maiduguri, a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan and an MBA from Bayero University Business School. In the course of his career which spans over 21 years, he has taken several courses including CEO Development Master Class (The Workforce Group); Leadership Development Programme (Prof Andrew Kakabadse, Cranfield Business School); Blue Ocean Strategy Workshop (Insead Business School) and Strategic Leadership Programme (Standard Bank Global Leadership Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa). Shehu enjoys reading and swimming. He is happily married with children.
