Ayokunle Ojo was appointed Group Executive, Treasury and Financial Institutions at First Bank of Nigeria Limited in August 2026. He provides strategic leadership across the Bank’s Treasury and Financial Institutions businesses, driving value creation, optimising revenue opportunities from market movements, and strengthening the Bank’s position within the financial markets’ ecosystem. He joined FirstBank as Head, Treasury Sales and was subsequently appointed Treasurer in 2025 before assuming his current role. With over 26 years of professional experience, he has built extensive expertise in treasury management, global markets, investment solutions, financial advisory, foreign exchange, interest rates, derivatives, and client strategy.
Prior to joining FirstBank, Ayokunle was a Founding Partner at Coinfocal Solutions, where he provided financial markets advisory, consulting, investment management, and strategic solutions to a diverse range of clients, including the United Nations, financial institutions, and private investors. Before establishing Coinfocal Solutions, he served as Head, Client Sales and Solutions (Global Markets) at Citibank, where he led the Sales and Structuring business and delivered tailored foreign exchange, interest rates, and derivatives solutions to corporate and institutional clients. His leadership contributed to several of Citibank’s most profitable client transactions and earned him multiple Deal Team Excellence Awards.
Beyond his executive responsibilities, Ayokunle has made significant contributions to the development of Nigeria’s financial markets through leadership and volunteer roles with the Financial Markets Dealers Association (FMDA), FMDQ Exchange, Nigerian Exchange (NGX), and CFA Society Nigeria. He is also a Co-founder and Non-Executive Director of New Frontiers Learning Centre, a leading finance and CFA training institution that has supported the professional development of thousands of finance practitioners over the past fifteen years.
Ayokunle holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). He also holds a certificate in Designing High-Impact Solutions from MITdesignX, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.
He is happily married with three children and enjoys playing lawn tennis.
