Segun Lamidi is the Group Executive, Operations and Services at First Bank of Nigeria Limited, with over 30 years’ banking experience spanning retail operations, treasury operations, IT operations, cash management, foreign operations, and shared services across Africa.
He provides strategic leadership for the Bank’s operational and service-delivery functions, ensuring enterprise-wide efficiency, regulatory compliance, process discipline, and service excellence across the FirstBank franchise.
Prior to joining FirstBank, he served as Group Head of Subsidiary Operations at Access Bank Plc, overseeing retail and corporate operations across its African subsidiaries. He previously held senior leadership roles at Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, where he led the transformation of central and branch operations, including the establishment of a Central Processing Centre that enhanced operational efficiency and service delivery.
Segun has also served as Chief Operating Officer, UBA Africa, with oversight for operations, IT, shared services, and operational risk management across 18 African countries, driving shared services implementation and channel optimisation initiatives. Earlier in his career, he held various operational leadership roles at Citibank Nigeria and Citibank South Africa.
He holds an MBA from the University of Calabar and a B.Sc. in Business Administration (Second Class Upper) from the University of Ilorin. He has completed executive leadership and process improvement programmes, including the Lean Six Sigma certification and the New Gen Process Automation school.
He loves soccer, his favourite team is Arsenal, and he is happily married with children.
