Patrick Akhidenor was appointed Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of First Bank of Nigeria Limited in July 2024. Before this role, he served as Head of Credit Analysis and Processing at FirstBank and was the Chief Risk Officer (acting) for over six months in 2016. He began his professional career in 1992 with Savannah Bank of Nigeria Plc.
Over the years, Patrick has held several strategic positions, including Regional Risk Manager (South South & South East) at Ecobank and Credit Service Delivery Manager for SME Banking at Standard Chartered Bank. His tenure at Ecobank also included roles as Risk Manager for Wholesale Banking, Retail & SME Banking, and Head of Loan Monitoring. Additionally, he amassed experience in Credit and Marketing, served as Deputy Branch Manager at Citizens International Bank, and worked as a Risk Manager at Fidelity Bank.
He has over 30 years’ experience in the banking and financial services industry with cross-functional exposure to Credit Risk Management, Operations and Branch Audit, Credit and Marketing, Trade, Retail and SME Risk Analysis, Credit Structuring, Loan Monitoring and Workout, Oil and Gas, Transportation and Marine.
Patrick holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Bendel State University (now Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma) and obtained a bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) from the Lagos State University. He has also been called to the Nigeria Bar.
He is happily married with children, enjoys gardening, is a trainer and has strong interest in climate and sustainability.
