Moving to the UK was very well anticipated but the reality of not meeting people to connect with, as I would have it back home, in Nigeria, became a challenge.
I was later introduced to an ‘Asalatu’, a prayer group that gave me access to Nigerians from different tribes. I made new friends and got some sense of inclusion, because it became easier to experience the Naija culture outside Nigeria, I got access to variety of Nigerian foods that I had greatly missed.
I eventually found my groove back as I was able to build strong connections that made me feel like I was home after all.
