First Bank of Nigeria Limited held the second edition of the ‘SMEConnect Series’ on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.
FirstBank Chairman, Ibukun Awosika talked about the importance of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in Nigeria as a massive employer of labour. “The issue of unemployment of a huge population of young people is not going to be solved by the biggest corporates in Nigeria…it’s going to be solved by the SMEs”. Participants were afterwards split into two masterclasses; ‘Start-Ups’ and ‘Scale-Ups’.
Other facilitators at the event included CEO MedPlus, Joke Bakare; CEO ‘Eventful’, Yewande Zaccheaus, CEO Brandzone Consulting LLC, Chizor Malize and Uche Egbuna and Sam Omole both of the Enterprise Development Centre, Lagos Business School.
There was also an opportunity for SMEs to pitch their businesses. Two social media experts, Tricia Ikponmwonba, aka ‘Triciabiz’ and Nelly Agbogu, aka ‘naijabrandchick’ were also at the FirstBank Digital White Space to watch them pitch and give valuable advice for online visibility.
