QR Code is a payment option where customers scan to pay at the merchant location. It is the cool new way to make payment with your smartphone. Yes, not with cash or your card. All you need to do is log in to your FirstMobile app and scan the QR code at the merchant store, ecommerce sites or bills, to make the payment.

The mVisa QR Code is a form of a matrix barcode that has the merchant’s information (merchant name & account number) required for the payment. You need to scan this QR code with the camera scanner built in the FirstMobile app to start the payment process. mVisa was developed by Visa Inc. and has been integrated into the FirstMobile app. More QR Codes coming soon.

Anyone that has downloaded and registered the FirstMobile app on their smartphone.

This is not a card payment, rather it is a payment from account. All you require to access this service is the updated FirstMobile App.

You will see an icon on the top right corner of the app when you log in labelled QR payment.

Anywhere you see the mVisa acceptance mark at various retail stores, ecommerce sites and utility bills. That’s your cue to pay using mVisa.

Follow these four (4) simple steps to set up your mVisa account:
a) Download the FirstMobile App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
b) Open the FirstMobile App in your smartphone.
c) Link your debit card to the App.
d) Finally, to keep your QR Code transactions and account secure, set your mPIN (5 digit paascode) and keep it to yourself. You will need to enter the mPIN everytime you want to initiate a QR Code Payment.

a)To pay at a store?
I. Look for the mVisa acceptance mark and QR code at the billing/teller counter.
ii. Log into your FirstMobile app
iii. Select QR Payment
iv. Click on the camera icon (If you are using mVisa for the first time, allow the app to access the camera on your smartphone).
v. Scan the merchant’s QR code or type in the mVisa Merchant ID in the app.
vi. Enter the exact amount you need to pay the merchant.
vii. You may be asked to authenticate the transaction with your 4 digit PIN viii. Click on Pay and get the transaction confirmation instantly.
ix. Or, access your bank’s USSD platform, enter the merchant ID, enter the amount to be paid and make the payment.

b) To pay online?
i. Spot the mVisa acceptance mark and the QR code on the check-out/ billing page when you are ready for your purchase.
ii. Log into your FirstMobile app
iii. Select QR Payment
iv. Click on the camera icon (If you are using mVisa for the first time, allow the app to access the camera on your smartphone).
v. Scan this QR code or type in the numeric merchant ID.
vi. You will either need to enter the payable amount or scanning the QR code will automatically display the payable amount.
vii. Authenticate the payment with your mPIN (passcode) and confirm the transaction.
viii. Click on Pay and get the transaction confirmation instantly.
ix. Or, access your bank’s USSD platform, enter the merchant ID, enter the amount to be paid and make the payment

c) To make bill payments?
i. Spot the mVisa acceptance mark and the QR code on your bill.
ii. Log into your FirstMobile app
iii. Select QR Payment
vi. Click on the camera icon (If you are using mVisa for the first time, allow the app to access the camera on your smartphone).
v. Scan this QR code or type in the numeric merchant ID.
vi. You will either need to enter the payable amount from the bill or scanning the QR code will automatically display the payable amount.
vii. Authenticate the payment with your mPIN (passcode) and confirm the transaction.
viii. Click on Pay and get the transaction confirmation instantly.
ix. Or, access your bank’s USSD platform, enter the merchant ID, enter the amount to be paid and make the payment

Don’t worry, we’ve worked it out. Just in case your transaction fails, the transaction amount will be credited back to your account. Simply visit any FirstBank branch to report the dispense error.

Well, you can request the merchant directly for a refund which can be initiated on the merchant App Or contact us through the 24×7 FirstContact Centre by sending an email to firstcontact@firstbanknigeria.com and we’ll make it right or visit the nearest FirstBank branch to you to make your complaint.

If you lose your mobile phone, please contact FirstContact immediately by sending an email to firstcontact@firstbanknigeria.com. With QR Code, you authorize each payment with an mPIN (passcode) which prevents other people from using your account even when you lose your phone as only you know your mPIN.
