FIRSTBANK APPOINTS
KEHINDE LAWANSON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
First Bank of Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of
Mr. Kehinde A. Lawanson as Executive Director. Lawanson
takes over from Mr Aderemi W. Babalola who was recently
appointed Minister of State (Finance), and he was until his
new appointment a Deputy General Manager and Group Head,
National Corporates in the Bank’s Corporate Banking
Directorate. His remit includes overseeing the Bank’s
retail/commercial banking activities in the Lagos & West
region of the country, coordinating consumer banking product
delivery as well as development of alternative delivery
channels.
A chartered surveyor, the new Executive Director has a rich
working experience in banking, spanning over 17 years with
exposure in investment and commercial banking. He holds a
Bachelor of Science degree in Estate Management (1981) and a
Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance. He
started his banking career in International Merchant Bank (IMB)
from where he was seconded to the defunct Intercity Bank Plc
as Assistant General Manager (AGM).
He thereafter held several executive positions in various
banks before joining the erstwhile Gateway Bank as General
Manager in 2001. He was elevated Executive Director and
later moved over to FirstBank in May 2004 as Deputy General
Manager (DGM) in the erstwhile Commercial Banking SBU of the
Bank.
A thoroughbred professional, Lawanson
has attended various courses and programmes in top rated
business schools including Stanford, Manchester, INSEAD and
Lagos Business Schools. He is an alumnus of the United
Nations University and the World Bank Institute Washington.
He is married with Children.
His appointment is subject to ratification by the Central
Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
