AROCHUKWU COMMUNITY HONOURS FIRSTBANK EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
As part of its end of year activities and in a bid to
promote industry and service to humanity, the Arochukwu
community in Abia State on December 26, 2007 gave
recognition to its deserving and illustrious sons and
daughters. One of the recipients of the honour is the
serving Executive Director (South) of First Bank of Nigeria
Plc, Mazi Alex Otti who bagged the highest award category.
The honour according to the community is also to recognize
their various contributions to the community and to
encourage them in their various callings as well as to
remind them of their roots.
Mazi Alex Otti was confered with the award of Ugwu Aro, the
highest honour the community confers on its illustrious
sons. The colourful ceremony took place at the Amaikpe
Square, Arochukwu in Abia State
Otti, who was described by many at the colourful event as an
exceptional talent, and by others as a man with a Midas
touch, joined FirstBank in 2001 as an AGM and was appointed
to the board of FirstBank on September 5, 2005 as a result
of his outstanding performance. Alex, as he is fondly
called, holds a first class degree in Economics from the
University of Port-Harcourt and an MBA (Marketing) from the
University of Lagos. He is married to Priscilla whom he
describes as a friend and they are blessed with three
children.
Other recipients include Professor Humphery Nwosu, former
INEC Chairman, HRH (Prof) Green Nwankwo, AIG (Mrs) Uche
Okoronkwo and Mazi Philip Obiora of Computer Warehouse
amongst others. Post humous awards were conferred on Sir
Alex Onyeador, Rt. Hon. Mbonu Ojike and Dr. K. O Mbadiwe.
Among the dignitaries that witnessed the awards presentation
ceremony are FirstBank's Directors and Management led by Dr
Oba Otudeko (Director), Mr Jacobs Moyo Ajekigbe (Managing
Director/Chief Executive) and Mr John Aboh (Executive
Director, Banking Operations & Services).
Others include His Excellency, Theodore Orji, Governor of
Abia State;His Excellency, Rotimi Amaechi, Governor of
Rivers State; Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor
Kalu; Prof (Mrs.) Dora Akunyili, Director General, NAFDAC;
Senator Annie Okonkwo and his wife; Rtd Commodore Ebitu
Ukiwe and his wife; and Senator Lee Maebe.
