Leveraging on the increasing tempo of business relationship between Nigeria and South Africa, First Bank of Nigeria Plc has opened a Representative Office in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. The South African Representative Office (SARO) , which commenced operations in March, 2004, was commissioned on Thursday, July 07, 2005.

The opening of the office, located at the Sandton Square Building in Johannesburg,the financial capital of South Africa, is coming two years after the successful launch of the Bank’s London subsidiary, the FBN Bank (UK) Limited.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Bank, Mr. Jacobs Moyo Ajekigbe says the latest move is hinged on four planks : the enhancement of the Bank’s visibility in the global market, facilitation of business transactions with South African institutions, identification and exploration of new businesses withn the emerging market for the Bank and marketing of FirstBank’s products and services in South Africa and follow up of potential customers.

Expected at the launch are Nigerian and South African business community, diplomats, financial regulators of both countries and other stakeholders in the bilateral relations between the two countries.
